Bye-bye Britain, it's been nice knowing you

Quick, get all the Shakespeare's works, poems by Lord Byron and Schelley, novels from Walter Scott, J.R.R. Tolkien and Charles Dickens. While you're at it make sure you buy DVDs of movies by David Lean, Alfred Hitchkok and Sir Richard Attenborough with the likes of Richard Burton, David Niven, Vivian Leigh, Michael Caine, Ben Kingsley, Liz Taylor, Alec Guiness and Sir Laurence Olivier. Don't forget the albums by Beatles, Queen, Iron Maiden or Sex Pistols(depending on your taste). Because if British conservative leader Cameron has his way, those will be just reminders of an extinct culture.

Cameron spent a couple of days living with a muslim family in England and has come to some interesting conclusions. One of them was:

Here the picture is bleak: family breakdown, drugs, crime and incivility are part of the normal experience of modern Britain. Many British Asians see a society that hardly inspires them to integrate. Indeed, they see aspects of modern Britain which are a threat to the values they hold dear - values which we should all hold dear. Asian families and communities are incredibly strong and cohesive, and have a sense of civic responsibility which puts the rest of us to shame. Not for the first time, I found myself thinking that it is mainstream Britain which needs to integrate more with the British Asian way of life, not the other way around.

I am curious...Do these family values include honour killings and arranged child marriages? How about the hijab, women being unable to leave the house without a male companion? Putting those questions aside, Cameron basically trashes his own country and it's culture and traditions and says that another culture, not indigenous to the British isles is superior and therefore the British culture must make way. How about returning to the family values of old, the values of traditional protestant and catholic churches, that enabled Britain to win both world wars and built the most powerful and advanced nation in the world at one point, and then demand that immigrants assimilate to that? Ah, but that is not an option, because that is narrow-minded, xenophobic.

There are more pearls from him such as this one:

First, a concerted attack on racism and soft bigotry...But many Muslims I've talked to about these issues are deeply offended by the use of the word 'Islamic' or 'Islamist' to describe the terrorist threat we face today.

So saying that islamic terrorism is islamic terrorism would be racist. Never mind that Bin Laden, Hamas and others publicly proclaim as their goal the supreme rule of islam in the world or that they regularly quote the Koran, sunna and the hadith. It offends people to call them "islamic terrorists" and so a Newspeak term must be come up with, and the facts be damned.

And this is supposedly the leader of the nominally "right wing" Conservative party. No, it's definitely not the party of Lloyd George and Churchill. Will the last sane person leaving Britain please turn the lights off?
