Throw the messenger down the well(*)

THE Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) have invited prof. Rapahel Israeli from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem to deliver a series of lectures. But apparently they didn't like what he had to say because after the first lecture they decided to distance themselves and withdraw their sponsorship of his lectures. This news beggars belief for two reasons.

First, it is inconcieavable that these organizations were not acquainted with the views of prof.Israeli since a simple Google search of his name would clearly show what the professor's views on the subject of Islam and terrorism are. If they expected someone who will deliver the old mantra "Islam is the religion of peace hijacked by extremists" and end his lectures with a rendition of "Kumbaya" they invited the wrong guy.

Second, their behaviour after professor Israeli's first lectures is a paradigm of contemporary multicultural liberalism. For people adhereing to that ideology it is not possible to accept any facts that contradict it. Therefore, instead of offering a rebuttal they simply decide to shoot the messenger, bury the head in the sand and repeat the multiculturalist mantra ad nauseam. What is even more scary is that governments in Europe and to a large degree in the USA think the same way.

(*) The title is a paraphrase of Borat's song "Throw the Jew down the well". Except it was the other Jews this time that are dumping prof. Israeli.
